Thanks Anna!
Christmas is a celebration on the birth of baby Jesus. Just think about what Mary must have been thinking as she gave birth to the Son of God. It’s enough to give you goosebumps!
That’s why my favorite Christmas song is Mary Did You Know. Every time I think about Mary holding that baby, I am so moved.
“MARY DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR BABY BOY WOULD ONE DAY WALK ON WATER”
Think about holding your newborn and all of the thoughts you have about who they will become and what they will accomplish. We all do that, right? Mary was holding on to a tiny baby that would be one of the most influential people in the history of mankind. Did she feel overwhelmed, blessed, in awe? We can only imagine.
“MARY DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR BABY BOY WOULD GIVE SIGHT TO A BLIND MAN”
That tiny infant that was born in a barn would go on to heal and inspire millions of people throughout history. Mary held the salvation of millions of people in a tiny bundle in her arms. She loved him, cared for him, and nurtured him. What a breathtaking experience that must have been.
“WHEN YOU KISS YOUR LITTLE BABY, YOU KISS THE FACE OF GOD”
I tear up every single time I think about Mary kissing that baby and being as close to God as any mortal on Earth could ever be. It’s truly amazing.
“THAT SLEEPING CHILD YOU’RE HOLDING IS THE GREAT I AM”
Jesus went on to say, “I am the light of the world: whoever follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Mary brought that gift to us. And it is the reason we give gifts to each other in remembrance of that day.
Close your eyes and listen. It’s a beautiful song.
