Happy #SongLyricsSunday! Today’s prompt is to find a song with the words “communication”, “news”, and “information” in the lyrics and/or title. I was debating to feature either “Just Communication” by Japanese synthpop duo Two-Mix or “Bad Communication by the legendary Japanese rock duo B’z. In the end, I picked “Just Communication” because of its important factor. What is it? Find out by continuing on!
Just Wild Beat, Communication
“Just Communication” was released as Two-Mix’s debut single on April 29, 1995. Two-Mix was a Japanese pop duo from 1995 to 2009 that was comprised of Minami Takayama (a voice actress) and Shiina Nagano. Although the duo formed in 1995, Takayama and Nagano knew each other since the early 90s. The two even released an album together (with another person) under the name ES CONNEXION.
It was when ES CONNEXION was disbanding in the summer of 1994 that Takayama and Nagano made a couple of demos. They then around to various people in the industry. A demo of “Just Communication” found its way to the hands of the producers for the then-upcoming Gundam series Gundam Wing (Or Mobile Suit Gundam W). The producers liked it so much that they asked the duo to make a final version. And that is how Two-Mix and “Just Communication” were born!
The lyrics to “Just Communication” were written by Shiina Nagano. I always loved the lyrics! My favorites lines are “I want to protect that look in your eyes” and “Believe in the love that can change sadness to strength”. I might sound like a hopeless romantic, but I always wanted my lover to say to me “I want to protect that look in your eyes”. It sounds so romantic. The words may sound corny, but I love them! The lyrics for this Two-Mix song are really sweet and what I want to experience with a lover. “Even if it’s in broken speech, I want you to tell me your pain.” Who wouldn’t want a lover telling them this?
Two-Mix released an English club version in 2000, yet I like the original Japanese version better. Not only for the sweet romantic lyrics, but for the perfect blend of house, synthpop, and techno. Once you listen to this song, you will sing and dance to it in no time! It is such an infectious tune!

Lyrics for Two-Mix’s “Just Communication”
Here is the English translation, thanks to LyricsTranslate.com:
Just wild beat communication While being pounded by rain
I want to express this unfading passion with my entire body, tonight!
I held your damp shoulders to warm you.
Your fingers tremble; what are they seeking?
Even if it’s in broken speech, I want you to tell me your pain.
Pretending that the pain’s worn off doesn’t make you an adult.
I want to protect that look in your eyes
Believe in the love that can change sadness to strength.
Just wild beat communication Don’t be afraid of anything.
Because no one’s going to take away our shared feelings of now.
Just wild beat communication While being pounded by rain
I want to express this unfading passion with my entire body, tonight!
I want to spend the night nestled close to you until the faraway dawn.
We can lose everything else, as long as we don’t lose tenderness.
Through kisses, more than words, we feel each other’s heartbeats,
drawing passion near; momentary, yet eternal…
I want to gaze at you, painfully, intensely.
You’re so precious to me it almost brings me to tears.
Just wild beat communication Don’t surrender anything,
because when you have someone who understands you, you can fight on.
Just wild beat communication Don’t let go of love
Unleash all of the complexities of your heart, and show me your true self, overflowing and passionate, tonight!
