It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.
Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that is in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the compeition. Good luck to those are competing!
Tusse’s “Voices”
Congolese-Swedish singer Tusse’s “Voices” is Sweden’s entry to this year’s competition. A song that talks about the importance of being heard as an individual voice, this song is an ok song. The lyrics are mediocre as there isn’t a single phrase or verse that really resonates as an inspiration, they are just blah. The melodies too are a bit lackluster too, don’t you think? They don’t really have any kind of effect on the listener.
What really saves the song is Tusse’s vocals. They are really smooth and melodic. They have so much more potential to be more. Hopefully, he will kick his vocal performance a notch (and go full out!) at the semi-final performances next month. But, right now, I don’t think “Voices” will make it to the semi-finals for its bland lyrics and melodies. Let’s hope Tusse will go full out next month and make it a dazzling tune with his performance!
