Seven Things About Myself
🌹 My Favorite Snack is…Mitarashi Dango! This Japanese snack food is basically three small balls of mochi (rice cakes) that is placed on a skewer and dipped in a sweet soy sauce. I can eat like 10 of these in one sitting, especially from the local sweet shop down the road from my apartment. If you ever visit Japan, please try mitarashi dango, especially from a Japanese sweets shop! You will be fall in love with it!
🌹 I Can Understand and Pronounce More Than Three Languages
I am pretty much fluent in Japanese and English. I can understand and speak some Spanish, I just lost four years of being in Spanish class over the years. Because I studied voice for eight years for my life, I can pronounce and understand some German, Italian, French, and Latin. I want to learn Korean someday.
🌹 Music is My Life
It literally is! I live in music every day. I listen to music when I wake up, get ready, eat breakfast, on the bike ride to and from work, and whenever I get home. Weekends are just filled with musical tunes.
🌹 My Favorite Drinks are…
Peach Tea and Chai! I usually drink chai from Starbucks at least four times a week. I also make it at home in the morning before work at least every day. The taste of chai is so magical. Peach tea too! Recently, Coca-Cola Japan started to sell a new “craft tea” that is a blend of tea, peach juice, and honey. I have been drinking it every day, and I can’t stop!
🌹 I Prefer “All You Can Eat” over “All You Can Drink”
In a country that has a countless number of restaurants that advertises “All You Can Drink” prices after work, I prefer “All You Can Eat” over “All You Can Drink”. When a restaurant talks about “All You Can Drink”, it mostly deals with beer, wine, and alcohol — three things that I don’t touch because I can’t drink. (I swear I have an allergy towards wine. The last time I drink wine, I had a fever and felt like I was dying). Besides, I think “All You Can Eat” has more value than “All You Can Drink”, especially when it comes to BBQing (or yakiniku in Japanese).
🌹 I’m the #1 Fan of…
my sister’s work! Oh, okay okay, maybe I am just using this one to promote my younger sister’s works. But recently, she has been depressed about her art. She is young and still has a lot to learn, but she has talent. I just wish she could believe in herself a little more like I do!
🌹 When I Was LIttle, I Wanted to Be…
A Meteorologist! I am serious! I used to watch The Weather Channel nonstop when I was a little girl. I would dream of being a meteorologist for the 24-hour channel. However, that all changed when I discovered Japanese culture (thank you, Sailor Moon) and got into Namie Amuro’s music when I was in junior high school. Then, I wanted to be a singer and musical theater actress till college (by then, I discovered that I didn’t want to wait tables for a long time to make it big on Broadway, no thank you).
I Nominate…
Finally!
Please check out Polly’s Pad! She has many posts that talk about various topics: Kpop, music, Japan, life, visiting places, bucket lists, and etc. A lot of her content can be delightful and relatable to readers. I also want to thank her a lot for nominating me!
To end this post, I want to share a throwback to my childhood (since I will post this post on a #TBT day or a #FF day). Recently, I have been listening to a lot of Disney and animated films’ songs from the 90s. This post’s song is the Japanese dub of “Once Upon a December” from the 1997 animated film Anastasia. Besides the fact that the film’s story is far from the real story of Anastasia Romanov, the movie was pretty magical. So were the songs. I would dance to this song in the living room when I was little as I wanted to dance like Anastasia (and have a princess dress just shimmer on me like that).
Do you have a favorite song from a Disney or animated film that was dubbed in another language? Tell me in the comments below!
