It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! If you don’t know what Eurovision is, I wrote a detailed post about the contest a couple of years ago. I am back with my series “Road to Eurovision”, predicting who will win this year’s contest. Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries. Then, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!
Amanda Tenfjord’s “Die Together”
Greek-Norwegian Indie Pop singer Amanda Tenfjord is representing Greece for this year’s Eurovision with the song “Die Together”. The lyric talks about a dying relationship where the character ponders if she could really part this piece of her life like she is parting from this loved one. Or, if they are going to be together to the very end and literally die together.
The magic of this song isn’t just in Tenfjord’s vocals, but also in the men’s chorus that supports it. Both vocal parts create something powerful with their diverse tones and textures that are combined so powerfully. Musically, the song builds on a musical momentum with the piano and vocals starting off strong and just swelling bit by bit. I think this song will explode on the Eurovision song as it is so powerful both vocally and lyrically. I think this song will make it to the finals for sure!
