It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! If you don’t know what Eurovision is, I wrote a detailed post about the contest a couple of years ago. I am back with my series “Road to Eurovision”, predicting who will win this year’s contest. Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries. Then, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Let’s get started!
“Jezebel” by the Ruasmus
Last year, Finland rocked Eurovision with the epic track “Dark Side” by Blind Channel. This year, they are back with another rock track, this time with “Jezebel” by the Rasmus. The band worked with legendary songwriter Desmond Child to craft this rock song which is named after the Biblical figure Jezebel, Queen of Israel. The song is “about a girl who takes what she wants, without asking, a free spirit”. It is also “an homage, a tribute, to the strong women of today, who own their bodies, who are in charge of their sensuality, their sexuality, and who are determined to be equal”.[1]
The song is a mediocre rock song. It has a great melody and vocals, and I love the guitar riffs. However, the energy isn’t there to make this a crowdpleaser at Eurovision. It is missing that “oompf” that Blind Channel had last year. The rocking energy featured in “Jezebel” is just at a constant pace, just subdued and hushed. I don’t see “Jezebel” making it to the finals as it isn’t a rock song for Eurovision, a music party that gets people hype
