“Don’t Think I’m Shallow” displays a perfect, delectable mixture of sugar and spice, mainly in the vocals. As the song starts off, you can hear the sweetness in the angelic tones of the vocals, sweetly telling a former lover of all the things that he thought about her. However, that sweetness is short-lived as the vocals changed their tones to a bold, dark one as she unleashed her true thoughts towards him and then the goodbyes.
It’s not only the vocals that display these contrasting tones, but also in the instrumentation. During the chorus (or the angelic part), you can hear the harp-like synthesizer that imitates angels strumming sweetly. However, when we reached the chorus, the harps-sounding melody is pushed back to the background as the distorted vocals take the main stage, displaying a mixture of anger and disgust. These contrasting tones are delectable as they really display each side of the situation and the lover’s opinion in a brilliant way.
What side of “Don’t Think I’m Shallow” do you like better: the angelic, sweet side or the bolder, darker side? For me, I enjoy the bolder, darker side as I think I can relate to the character’s feelings at that point of the song. Hey, I’m not as shallow as you think and I don’t need you anymore as you continue to think like are experiences I have in my life. I also like the way the simple thing that Temperature Falls did to change the song’s mood one-eighty: only distorting vocalist Camilla’s vocals. It might seem small, but it really was effective in making that contrast.

“Don’t Think I’m Shallow” by Temperature Falls is a delectable mixture of sweetness and spiciness that will make listeners crave for more.
