It’s mid-April and we have about a month to go till the annual Eurovision contest. It will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.
Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that are in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!
Senhit’s “Adrenalina”
“I always want adventure, excitement, new experiences, and to live at 360 degrees! ‘Adrenalina’ represents me best with its mix of international electro-pop and refined sounds of instruments that come from Eritrea! That’s why I’ve decided to take it to the Eurovision stage.”
“Adrenalina” by Senhit is representing San Marino for this year’s Eurovision. Another song that mixes traditional with modern, this time with the instruments from Senhit’s parent’s home country of Eritrea: a krar and the kebero. The modern portion is of course the song’s upbeat, pop-infused beat.
But, the song also has a surprise at the break: a rap break by Flo Rida. This rap portion is a great addition to the song as it matches the same energy as the rest of the tune. The transition between Senhit to Flo Rida and back to Senhit is flawless and smooth. (It is unknown Flo Rida will be performing the rap live at the semi-finals with Senhit. But, the rap will be there regardless.)
With it’s high energy, it’s addictive beat, and an amazing performance from Senhit and Flo Rida, “Adrenalina” will mostly likely make it to the finals.
Trivia: Senhit previously represented San Marino in 2011 with the song “Stand By“.
