Josh Beaucamp (from Canada) and Hina Yoshihara (from Japan) talked about their inspiration, what was is like being in the group, and how was it being part of “Jump” with R3HAB and Alta B. While reading their answers, make sure to check out the song too! It is a catchy dance tune that will have you dancing from beat one! Let me know what you think in the comments!
Josh Beachamp
I’m a 21-year-old artist from St. Albert, Alberta, Canada that is a part of the global pop group Now United. A fun fact about me is that I love skittles more than anything!
Tell me about how you got into dance and music. What has that journey looked like?
At 6 years old, my mom put me in dance class after watching the first season of So You Think You Can Dance. From there, I continued to improve and gain a strong passion for dancing as well as music, once I joined Now United.
Being in Now United has been the most amazing experience of my life! It has given me the rare opportunity to travel the world and do what I love with a bunch of my friends. It really is a dream come true. We’re one big family!
“Jump” is a high-energy, electronic party pop song produced by R3Hab. We got to shoot the music video on a crazy set in Portugal. That was unreal!
How was the music video choreographed and with who?
Kyle Hanagami is the mastermind behind this music video and most of all our choreography. We learned all of the choreography in Mexico for about 2-3 days and then he staged everything for the music video in Portugal before our shoot.
Working with R3HAB and Kyle Hanagami, who are such established geniuses in their craft is an experience I’m so proud to be a part of and also learn from.
What was the inspiration behind the song?
I think the inspiration would be to just have fun and dance. I feel like people don’t dance as much nowadays as they used to. So this song is about getting up and just letting loose
Any future plans?
We’re gearing up for our “Wave Your Flag” Tour in Brazil and Portugal. We love performing live and hope to see you at a show sometime!
Hina Yoshihara
My name is Hina Yoshihara and I’m proud to represent Japan in the global pop group Now United. I can also see ghosts!
Tell me about how you got into dance and music. What has that journey looked like?
I was doing cheerleading and it was from there that I became interested in dance and hip hop. The rest is history!
You are part of the 18-member global pop group Now United. How is it to be in a big group?
I love being a part of this group. It’s so unique because I’m able to show my own culture, whilst also being introduced to so many others, and constantly learning!
How do all the members record and perform together? What is that like?
It is certainly busy! It’s kind of like a school, it’s a lot of work. There is a lot of scheduling and organizing needed for such a large group of us, but the whole experience is just a huge dream come true.
Jump is definitely a new vibe for us. We like to switch things up for our fans and we are so happy they’ve been loving the song so far. It’s also a special one because we get to do it with ALTA B!
