What a lovely week it has become here in Japan! I am a bit late to the “Music Moves Me Monday” party for this week as I have been busy with getting my sister settled here in Japan. However, the theme of the 4M for last week is “Heaven or Hell”. As I like heaven better than hell, I am going to talk about heaven in this post. (I am very late on this but that is because I been busy with work and getting my sister settled down here in Japan)
Because this blog is about music around the world, what would be more perfect about listening to songs or artists with “Heaven” in it. Let’s find out about these five songs and artists around the world and discover your new favorite today!
Spanish: Cielo
Cielo Pordomingo – “Azul Delirio”
Cielo Prodomingo is an amazing artist that is able to make beautiful electronic music. I have mentioned this talented artist before and sat down to talk about her remix album R-MIXES & +. Check it out if you haven’t read it as the interview is very insightful into her unique creative process.
.Her recent release is “Azul Delirio” (Blue Rave) is an alluring piece that features a brighter side of Pordomingo’s vocals. Don’t let the dark, deep sounds of the introduction fool you as the song features a lighter tone and notes set in a moderate range. My favorite part is during the chorus when the main vocals are amplified by wonderful harmonies that are a counterpoint to the main harmony. You can hear an example of this around the 1:35 mark. Even Pordimgo’s vocals are a pure delight during the chorus as they are pure and lovely when she sings in the higher note range.
Chinese: 天堂 (Tiāntáng)
Michael Wong: “Tiāntáng”
This is my first time hearing a song by Malaysian Chinese singer Michael Wong. Apparently, he is well-known for writing love songs, which “Tiāntáng” is all about. Judging from the mood of the song and the music video, this song is all about the romance between two people. And looking at the translation of the lyrics, my prediction is about right as it about romance but also cherishing that special one.
I love “Tiāntáng” because it is a very pretty mid-tempo ballad. This is one of those songs that I want to share with my loved one when I want to show my appreciation for their love. Along with this message featured in the lyrics, Michael Wong’s smooth tenor voice and the light piano played in the background makes “Tiāntáng” soothing to listen to.
Here is the English translation of the lyrics:
Greek: αράδεισος (parádeisos)
Elena Tsagkrinou – “αράδεισος”
Another artists that I didn’t know before writing this article. “Parádeisos” is a powerful EDM-riched mid-tempo song that is in the same of Michael Wong’s song; romance. I thoroughly like it as the song has this powerful vibe to it, maybe more in the instrumentation as they are strong and are have a slight darkness aura.

Kiss -“Heaven’s On Fire”
I didn’t listen to Kiss music until recently. I know Kiss music is great and that the band is talented, but I was tired of listening to their bigger hits from the 70s over and over. They are great songs but I am the type of music listener who likes to hear something unheard of and rare. Of course, “Heaven’s On Fire” isn’t rare but it is a bit of a breath of fresh air from their albums in the 70s. No one really mentions or really plays “Heaven’s On Fire” more than “Lick It Up” or the songs made in the 70s.
“Heaven’s On Fire” also made me realize that I like Kiss more without the makeup, maybe because I more attractive to the prowlness of Paul Stanley.
Hawaiian: Lani
Lani Misalucha – “Tila”
Lani Misalucha isn’t Hawaiian, but “Lani” does means “heaven” in that language Lani is actually a Filipino singer who has released material in many genres: jazz, pop, rock, R&B, soul, and etc. Called “Asia’s Nightgale”, she has been performing in her home country as well as overseas, mainly in Las Vegas.
“Tila” was released in 2003 on her fourth studio album, Loving You. It’s a soothing piece even at the beginning with the sound of rain. It starts off quiet with Lani’s vocals and instrumentation, but it all changes by the end as both are off powerful and strong. This song is a great song to listen to when you are meditating, doing yoga, relaxing, or working.
I don’t have the translation of the lyrics because I find the translation anywhere. If you can find the translation, let me know in the links below.
