It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! If you don’t know what Eurovision is, I wrote a detailed post about the contest a couple of years ago. I am back with my series “Road to Eurovision”, predicting who will win this year’s contest. Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries. Then, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Michael Ben David’s “I.M”
Michael Ben David is representing Israel in this year’s Eurovision with the song “I.M”. The song was inspired by the artist7 childhood where he was bullied for having a high-pitched voice and being in a rough relationship with his mom when he came out gay. Even his stepfather told him to not behave like a girl by singing. The artist would accept himself gradually and even forgave those who mocked him. And that is where “I.M” comes into play as it is a song that has lyrics to encourage inner strength and being empowered.
“I.M” has a lot of soul, sass, and talent that makes this track a banger. Michael Ben David brings a diverse range of vocals and vocal agility, showing off that soulful range in the beginning with those slick, sassy raps in the verses. But, the best part is the verse with empowering lyrics and catchy riffs. I also like how this song infuses traditional Israeli instruments with modern dance-pop sounds. “I.M” is a banger but also an inspiration that will make it to the finals!
