It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! If you don’t know what Eurovision is, I wrote a detailed post about the contest a couple of years ago.. I am back with my series “Road to Eurovision”, predicting who will win this year’s contest. Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries. Then, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!
Mia Dimšić’s “Guilty Pleasure”
Mia Dimšić’s “Guilty Pleasure” is representing Croatia in this year’s Eurovision. The singer got inspired by her idol Taylor Swift when writing “Guilty Pleasure”, especially from 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore. Some users on social platforms like TikTok have noticed that this song sounds a lot like Taylor Swift’s “Willow”. I let readers be a judge of argument as I am not a big Swift listener as of lately.
Dimšić’s “Guilty Pleasure” is not a bad song, but it sounds really generic. It doesn’t have anything magical about the song, except for the ear-pleasing and soothing melody, that would make it special on the Eurovision stage. It just sounds like something you would hear on the radio these days. So, I don’t think it would make it to the finals.
