Without further ado, let me introduce today’s upcoming artist: The Sound Ninja. Though a relatively new artist — only started to release songs this year — his songs are filled with passion and creativity, especially with his latest release.
A Harmonious Tune Filled With Musical Passion
“Lens (We Use to See)” is The Sound Ninja’s latest release, that was released last month, and probably his first official collaboration. He worked with drummer Avo Karapetyan from the alt-rock band All Taken to craft this acoustic rock piece. This partnership between the two musicians provides a vibrant and energetic tune filled with plenty of emotions and great melodic lines.
My favorite part of “Lens (We Use to See)” is the chorus part. I love how The Sound Ninja uses sub-harmonies to create a warm texture within the vocal part. Another great thing about the chorus is the execution of ending each phrase. In the middle of the chorus, he uses a technique where he extends the “why” from the line “To let us know just where and why” and capitulates the word through a series of notes full of ear-pleasing harmony. There are more of these capitulating tremolos throughout the song, but I like the ones in the chorus because you can tell that the passion of the song is held in these notes.
Behind the Music
A promising aspect of The Sound Ninja’s music is how he crafts his melodic lines. And also, how he creates a sound tune with different instruments. In “Lens (We Use to See)”, I love how he arranges the five primary instruments: the guitar, the drums, the piano, the bass, and the voice. It is pretty neat to hear the piano playing a counter-melody during the verses. Even the drums played a rocking solo part during the song’s break and was a primary feature before the final chorus. I also love the guitar during the chorus; the acoustic strumming adds a certain warmth and texture. Each instrument featured in “Lens (We Use to See)” has a different purpose but they help to create a well-crafted tune with these differences.
The Sound Ninja might be new to the professional music scene, but his music is full of creative talent and passion. You can see the emotion throughout the lyrics and also through the vocals. The creative skills are found in the way he crafts such songs like “Lens (We Use to See)”: using musical notes and melodies to produce a warm vocal part full of texture. Meanwhile, he also applies these talents to his arranging as he works with each instrument and their unique sound to create a well-rounded song.
