Ahhh, winter break! In Japan, it is customary to have no work from December 29 to January 3 for New Years’. But, I took some extra time off as I wanted to enjoy the week off. December has been a busy month as I had Christmas parties, winter performances, and mailing a lot of mail off to family and friends all over the world. Now, I can take a deep breath and enjoy the day! And what a beautiful day to do so!
I have been listening to a lot of music today, and one EP I have enjoyed this warm, sunny afternoon with is Remember It All by American artist Jonny Glenn. What makes this EP a charming one? Why is it such a great listen, especially on a relaxing afternoon? Continue to find out!
The Charm Point Is…
The EP features five tracks that seem like they are very similar, yet they are different. The first track is “Remember It All”, a tune that doesn’t hold back any words or emotions. With lyrics that are frank and sincere, they bear the feeling and thoughts of a relationship that turned sour and ended. Glenn bears the soul of the song within his raw, soulful vocals. Bearing all the song’s emotions in a smooth yet soulful way, these vocals are what make “Remember It All” such a powerful song to listen to.
The next song is “Home”, an upbeat, guitar-driven tune that will have you singing along. What allures the listeners to this song is the addictive melodies within the instrumentation and the vocals. Glenn’s vocals are like a sweet sticky trap as they are charming, fine, and sweet. They will make you want to listen to the end as they are very addictive!
“Over the Moon”, the third track, is my personal favorite. It reminds me of the discography from one of my favorite UK bands The 1975. “Over the Moon” is funky with its catchy beats and slick vocals. They feature Glenn’s upper range more as he hits higher notes in an intoxicating method. This track, with its alluring beats and captivating vocals, will make you want to dance right along to it!
It takes two to tango for “Woah”. A tantalizing duet with Ally Hills, “Woah” is on fire with its dangerously hot melodies, great chemistry between Hills and Glenn, and a rhythm that is only described as “sexy” and “badass”. This song is different than the others on the tracks as it features bolder vocals, melodies, and rhythms. These tantalizing characteristics are what sets the song on fire!
The final track is “Don’t Wanna Let Down”. This track brings the EP to a full circle as it features the same sincerity and openness that was featured in the first track. But unlike “Remember It All”, “Don’t Wanna Let Down” is a track that pours its heart out with honesty as the person doesn’t want to let the person down by being a bad lover. The vibes in “Remember It All”, are the same as “Don’t Wanna Let Down”: relaxing and laid-back. A great final track that brings everything full circle.
Final Thoughts
“Remember It All” by Jonny Glenn is an EP that has a little bit of everything within the five featured tracks. There is “Remember It All” that doesn’t hold back any words or emotions, upbeat, guitar-driven “Home”, “Over the Moon” is funky with its catchy beats and slick vocals, the tantalizing “Woah”, and mellow and sweet “Don’t Wanna Let Down”. Though each track is different in its unique way, they are worthy of listening to as individual tracks.
