Road to Eurovision 2021: Benny Cristo (Czech Republic)

Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that are in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Benny Cristo’s “omaga”

“We recorded so many different, amazing scenes, so I knew that even if we only used 10% of them, we could still make a great, funny, and entertaining video. Jan (Strach), the director, came up with the creative idea and I feel we’ve managed to realise it in the best way possible. I hope fans enjoy the video as it was so much fun to make!”

Benny Cristo’s “omaga” (kind of like “Oh My God”) will represent the Czech Republic in this year’s Eurovision. The video is pretty entertaining as Cristo explained above how the video came to be. However, the video isn’t going to be the thing that the judges are going to look for in the semi-finals. They will love for vocals, construction, instrumentation, and other things.

Cristo’s vocals are not bad, they are really smooth and I hear hints of soulful in them. The problem is that this song is all over the place. With the bumpy introduction melody and then the “toss and turn” rap, this song wasn’t put together well. It is just all over the place. And because of this, I don’t think “omaga” will make it to the finals
