The Road to Eurovision 2022: Emma Muscat (Malta)

It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! If you don’t know what Eurovision is, I wrote a detailed post about the contest a couple of years ago. I am back with my series “Road to Eurovision”, predicting who will win this year’s contest. Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries. Then, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Emma Muscat’s “I Am What I Am”

Emma Muscat‘s “I Am What I Am” is representing Malta is this year’s Eurovision to encourage individuality. This uplifting pop song features soulful backing vocals, empowering lyrics, and catchy melodies. This is one song that the audiences will sing along to during the semi-finals, singing over and over “I Am What I Am”. However, Emma Muscat’s track needs more color and energy to turn it into magic It isn’t a bad song, and it could show some potential if performed right at the semi-finals. But, I don’t think it has enough “oomph”, especially in the vocal performance, to make it to the finals.
