It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.
Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that is in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the compeition. Good luck to those are competing!
Eden Alene’s “Set Me Free”
“Set Me Free” by Israeli singer Eden Alene is representing Israel in this year’s Eurovision. Although it isn’t “Feker Libi” 2.0 (which was one of my favorite tunes of last year), “Set Me Free” is a tune worth listening to. With Eden’s talented vocals, catchy melodies, quick escalations, and addictive instrumentation, “Set Me Free” is a tune that will surely make it to the finals. I like how it mixtures traditional musical motifs with modern pop ones. And, I just love Eden, she is an amazing vocalist and performer! Just listen to that ending!
This tune is all about the COVID-19 pandemic and how the character wants to be set free from it (and the limitations from it). Is that what you heard from the song? What did you think of “Set Me Free”? Let me know in the comments!
